Unified Property Registry: Launching in 2026 to Transform Real Estate Transparency

By June 2026, Greece will roll out the Unified Property Registry (UPR), a groundbreaking digital service developed by the Hellenic Cadastre. This new platform will consolidate all legal, planning, forestry, taxation, and energy data related to real estate nationwide into a single digital ecosystem.

The UPR will complement the existing Hellenic Cadastre procedures for foreign buyers and the MIDA registry of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue, creating a digital ecosystem that simplifies real estate transactions.

Benefits for property owners and professionals

The UPR will provide a holistic property profile, reducing the need for repetitive applications, accelerating property transactions, and strengthening legal certainty. It will also support land-use planning, help detect tax evasion, and combat illegal land occupations. Importantly, property owners will not need to manually input data, as the system will operate via interconnectivity.

For real estate professionals, access to verified data through a unified registry will save time, cut red tape, and provide a transparent framework for managing transactions.

Strategic importance

The registry represents a milestone in Greece’s digital transformation of real estate governance. It aligns the country with European best practices, creating a transparent and efficient property management framework.

This move is expected to boost confidence in the Greek property market, attracting both domestic and international investors looking for legal certainty and simplified processes.
